Maureen Hannley, PhD

Clinical Professor, Otolaryngology

Dr. Maureen Hannley’s chief interest is in clinical research design, execution, and analysis.  She has held faculty appointments at Arizona State University, Stanford University College of Medicine, Duke University College of Medicine, and the Medical College of Wisconsin.  As Chief Research Officer of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, she initiated and expanded the research programs of the Academy.

Dr Hannley has received awards from the American Otological Society, the American Head and Neck Society, the Triological Society, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery for significant contributions to research and for advancing research training in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery.

Formerly Health Services Administrator and Director of the Hearing Research Program at the NIH National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, Dr Hannley is the author of two books, 10 chapters in books, and over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles

Research

Dr Hannley’s research interests are focused on clinical research, including health-related quality of life measures, evidence-based medicine and outcome assessment; and on research grant writing.  Auditory physiology and pathophysiology are areas of particular interest.
