Department of Otolaryngology 2018 Research Symposium

On June 15, 2018 the Otolaryngology residency program graduation festivities commenced with a research symposium that provided a venue for 4 otolaryngology residents; Saranya  Reghunathan, MD, Jonnae Barry, MD, Tyson Nielsen, MD & Samuel Barber, MD to showcase their ongoing research projects. Graduating fellow, Brian Song, MD presented his sinusitis related research as did undergraduate student Ngoc Han Ly of the Mercado-Pimentel lab. Distinguished Speaker, Ivan El-Sayed, MD, Professor, Otolaryngology from the University of California-San Francisco presented two talks at the symposium entitled “Anterolateral Skull Base Surgery – Has the Time Arrived to Call it a New Field?” and “Surgical Anatomy of the Infratemporal Fossa.” Dr. Samuel Barber subsequently took home the Outstanding Research Presentation Award for his talk entitled “Applications of Virtual Reality for Surgical Simulation and Planning” at the evening graduation ceremony.
